Max Kenton
Max Kenton is the son of Charlie Kenton, an 11 year-old boy whose mother died. He was taken into custody for the summer by Charlie, after which he was to go with his Aunt Debra as she had custody. However Aunt Debra let him later go with Charlie for the Zeus fight.

Max Kenton is the son of the main character Charlie Kenton to whom is Max's father. Noisy Boy is destroyed, and Charlie and Max go to the junk yard to find parts to build another robot. It's raining, and Max slips down a huge hill and nearly fell off a cliff, but he was snagged on a robot arm, who he uncovered to be Atom, a sparring robot, built to take a lot of damage.
Charlie and Max take Atom back to Bailey Tallet's gym to fix and recharge him. Afterward, they take Atom to fight at The Zoo, a place where illegal outdoor robot boxing takes place. Atom easily defeats Metro after taking a major beating from him. After going on a major winning streak doing underworld robot boxing, Atom is invited to fight Twin Cities, one of the World Robot Boxing League robots, who is defeated because Charlie notices a weakness in his right shoulder. After the win, Max challenges Zeus, undefeated, head-crushing, champion of the WRB to a fight. Atom basically wins, as he survives all five rounds, during the final round having to use shadow mode with Charlie to knock down Zeus. Surviving all five rounds and knocking down Zeus is all a first for anyone, but the judges still favor Zeus for his hits landed. Atom earned the title of The People's Champion, and Zeus' reputation is tarnished, although he still is officially the champion. Also after this was the first time Max called Charlie Dad.
